I am now retired but the website for my Fall '09 Math 251,
Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations,
with materials still available.
Get candle lighting times from HebCal

I am
one of the 1,684 Jews
who were saved from the Holocaust by
Rudolf Kasztner's Train
(the original passenger list).
My family also received an unauthorized
Salvadoran citizenship certificate from
George Mandel-Mantello
as an escape from the Holocaust but did not use it.
I am an ardent supporter of civil rights, diversity and justice
in the workplace. Some relevant statutes
are discussed here.
Complaints of violations of the Federal statutes can be filed
with the Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission.
Charges filed with the
the Pennsylvania Human Relations
Commission may be simultaneously filed
with the EEOC. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) wishes to secure justice and fair treatment for all persons
and in particular to stop the defamation of the Jewish people.
And, I am generally interested in social issues; eg, the forces that enable some of
our public universities to pay
high salaries to their administrators
(
another source ; or,
how much compensation is too much for a public university's administrator?
Of course, some university presidents do act in concert with
their lofty positions, e.g. see Chronicle ,
Washington Post ,
Seattle Times and
New York Times .
Perhaps the IRS should reconsider the tax exempt status of a public institution that
pays its administrators an unreasonable salary.
A source of information about the IRS's role in determining tax exempt status is
available here.
I served as Mathematics Coordinator for Commonwealth Campus faculty
and as Math Division Head in the Commonwealth College.
Information that may be
of interest to Mathematics Faculty at the new colleges is available at
this location.
